Violet J. Morehouse, 88, of Elkhart, passed away early Monday morning, July 7, at Elkhart General Hospital. Violet was born on May 5, 1926, in South Bend to the late Peter and Christine (Csiszar) Czerna.

In addition to her parents, a granddaughter, Marcy Fall, brothers Peter and Louie Czerna and a sister, Irene Czerna, preceded Violet in death.

On Sept. 27, 1947, she married Earl Morehouse Jr. in South Bend. Earl passed away on March 11, 2007, in Allegan, Mich.

Surviving are her children, Shirley (Dennis) Kantz of Elkhart, Linda (Michael) Lukasiewicz of Belding, Mich., and John Morehouse of Allegan; three grandchildren, Tracy (Jonathan) Stern, Charlotte Lukasiewicz and Kimberly (Tony) Koster; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Horvath of South Bend.

Violet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She formerly worked as an inserter for The Elkhart Truth for several years.

She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge and enjoyed dancing to big band music. Violet and Earl spent winters in Arizona and many wonderful summers at their lake cottage at Lake Allegan.
