Viola T. Gratta, age 94 of Manchester, NJ died on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 at Leisure Park Assisted Living in Lakewood. Viola was born in Jersey City to Allan and Mary, she lived in South Plainfield for many years, moving to Manchester 33 years ago.
Viola was a cashier for the A&P in Plainfield for several years. She is a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield and St. Johns Church in Lakehurst where she was involved with their rosary society. Viola was the past president and secretary of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in South Plainfield. Viola is preceded in death by her husband, Russell C. Gratta in 1995 and by her son Thomas Gratta.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Verderosa and Mary Ann Conover both of Manchester and survived by her son, Russell J. Gratta of Arizonia. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
