GROFVERT, Peggy D., MI Viola “Peggy” Dotty Grofvert, age 87, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 in Kalamazoo. She was born on April 12, 1928 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Leo and Parlee Bouquest Tyler and had been a lifelong area resident. As one of 23 children, Peggy learned at an early age to be loving, open to others needs and to have only what you really needed. When she had four children raise on her own, she passed on her values and work ethic. Peggy had endless energy and became a master bread baker, candy maker and knitted countless afghans for family and friends.
She was known by her family as the “Garage Sale Queen” because she seemed to have a perpetual garage sale at her home. Peggy worked for various heating and cooling companies and retired from Champion’s. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and 18 siblings. She is survived by four children, Ron Laurel Grofvert of Lawrence, MI, Judy Elzinga of Kalamazoo, MI, Sherry Terry Butler of Mattawan, MI and Bob Sylvia Grofvert of Benton, TN; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
