Viola L. Snyder, 95, of Williamsport, died peacefully, Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Williamsport Home.
Born September 19, 1922 in Elimsport, she was a daughter of G. Bruce and Kathryn (Miller) Thomas. She was the widow of Earl Robert “Bob” Snyder, who died February 6, 1999 after 56 years of marriage.
She was a 1940 graduate of Williamsport High School. She had worked as a secretary for Sears Roebuck and was a homemaker. Viola was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and was part of the Diamond Girls at church and volunteered for many church activities throughout the years. She was a member of the Dames of Malta. For many years, she served as a registrar of elections for Old Lycoming Township. Viola enjoyed walking, reading, playing cards, baking, and gardening. She was a fan of Elvis, doing crossword puzzles, and baking her famous Coca-Cola Cake.
Surviving are two daughters Judith Ann Isgate (Rick) of Trout Run, and Gail L. Ballew (Bob) of South Weber, Utah, four grandchildren Michelle McElwee (Scott), Heather Bower (Donnie), Kat Yoder (Grant), and Rob Ballew (Katrin), eight great grandchildren Alecia and Shane McElwee, Madyson and Jackson Bower, Carson, Sydney, and Autumn Yoder, and Henry Ballew.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two siblings John Thomas and Marietta Welsh.
