Passed away peacefully on August 21, 2011 at the age of 104. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee and spent many years in Oakland and was known by everyone as “Grandma”. She spent the last 22 years as a resident of Alameda.
Viola loved to volunteer and serve those who were less fortunate. She helped to serve meals to the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul in Oakland and as a “Pinky” at Alameda Hospital until she was 100 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances, 3 grandchildren: Cathy, Tony and Cindy, 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
