Viola Gay Spurlock, 95, of Okoboji passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Lakes Regional Health Care. Gay was born on June 16, 1921 to Homer and Dolly Fast in Liberal, MO. She graduated from Linn Grove High School in Linn Grove, IA. She was united in marriage to Percy Spurlock on September 27, 1940 at the Little Brown Church. Gay and Percy owned and operated the bowling Alley in Sioux Rapids for many years. The couple then moved to Ruthven where they owned and operated a Gambles Store for several years. Gay also worked for many years at Berkley. They later retired in Okoboji. Gay was an excellent bowler. She bowled in numerous tournaments over the years. She also enjoyed fishing in her spare time. She is survived by her son Bruce (Patricia) of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren Kim Spurlock and Todd (Anne) Spurlock; two great grandchildren Meggan Piper and Ryan Sheehan; three great-great grandchildren Jesse, Addison Piper and Onyx Sheehan; and one sister Lee (Bill) June of Augusta, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.
