Vincent Salerno, 91, of 35 Hamden Hills Drive, Hamden passed away Nov. 28, 2013. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Ingrao Salerno. Born in New Haven Feb. 17 1922, he was the son of the late Matteo and Frances Lettieri Salerno. He was a member of the New Haven Fire Dept. for 25 years. He was appointed Jan. 1, 1951 and retired with the rank of lieutenant on March 7, 1976. He served with the US Army in Europe during World War II and worked at Klein Biology Tower at Yale for many years as an assistant to Dr, Frank Ruddle in genetic research. His family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Maplewoods at Hamden; to Dr. Robert Henry & Staff and Dr. Daniel Price and staff for their caring attention. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Salerno of New York City; his brother, Jerry (Rose) Salerno of Hamden; sister in law, Lorraine Salerno; a niece, Frances Fanesi and family; a nephew, Matthew Salerno; and several other nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Noble J. Salerno and a sister, Theresa Salerno.
