It is with great sorrow that we announce that Vincent G. Perilli of Elmsford and Ossining passed away April 13, 2021 at the age of 95.
Born on August 14, 1925 in the Abruzzo region of Italy to Franco Perilli and Maria Barrucci Perilli, Vincent immigrated to Elmsford, NY as a young child, but with citizenship, since his father was already naturalized. He was raised, educated, and spent most of his life in Elmsford. He served in the Air Force during WW II. Vincent received Master’s degrees from both Iona and CCNY. He was a dedicated school teacher for over 40 years, 38 of which were at the William E. Cottle School in Eastchester NY. As a beloved teacher he left an indelible mark on his students and often received letters of gratitude from former students years after graduation. For many years, he was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Elmsford, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. More recently, he lived in Ossining and was a member of St. Augustine’s parish. He was a devoted husband, loving father, beloved teacher, and a great friend. His caring nature, curious mind, and adventurous spirit helped him to lead a very full and rewarding life.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Mamitsch Perilli. He is predeceased by his first wife, Grace Dunagan Perilli, sister Angelina Passarella, brothers Dominic and Frank, and grandson Matthew. He leaves behind a legacy including six children by his first wife, Grace: Tom, Jim (Jennifer Murphy), Bob (Lisa Smith), Celeste, Vincent (Maria Park), and Laura (Frank Reddon) as well as 6 grandchildren: Marissa, Christina, Kara, Nick, Chris and Grace. He is also survived by close family friends: sister-in-law Jean Dunagan, first cousin Gabriella Belmont, along with Maureen Perilli’s six children and their children.
