Victoria “Vicky” (Withrow) Thomas, 82, of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 at Pleasant View, Ottawa.
Victoria “Vicky” Thomas was born March 20, 1939 in Mendota, IL to Ralph Withrow and Ruth (Prentice) Wilkinson. She was a graduate of Paw Paw High School. She married Robert “Bob” Thomas in Ottawa on February 12, 1960, and they were happily married for 53 years until his passing.
Vicky was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and St Columba Catholic Church. She was a long-time member of the St Mary’s Altar and Rosary and spent many years preparing children for their First Communion as a CCD teacher.
Throughout her life Vicky had many interests. She always had a huge garden and enjoyed sewing and teaching others to sew. She enjoyed baking and cooking and taught many people how to bake bread and cinnamon rolls. Her cookies and ten-pound cheesecake were legendary to those who were lucky enough to taste them. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on the computer. She always remembered every special occasion in her friends and family’s lives.
Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her house was always prepared with toys, beds and clothes for last minute sleepovers.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and her daughter in- law, Sheila Thomas. She will be remembered and missed by her son John Thomas, daughter Ellen Thomas, sister Leatricia (Tish) Eddy, grandchildren Robb Thomas and Jennifer (Kyle) Olesen, and her great grandchildren Ashton, Jaxson, Bryson and Grayson Thomas as well as her many close friends.
Pallbearers will be Paul Pike, Al Milner, Robb Thomas, Jack Carr, Kyle Olesen, and Jennifer Olesen.
