Dr. Victoria Mae Campbell-Whitehead, 68, died December 8, 2017 in Peachtree City, Ga., after a very long battle with lupus. She was born September 26, 1949, in Covington, Ky., to Don and Juanita Campbell. Victoria is survived by her sisters, Donna (Frank) Pepper of Mesa, Ariz., Sigrid Chapman of Florence, Ky., Debra J. Campbell, Ph.D., of Phoenix, Ariz.; Sister in-law, Irene Murray of Taylor Mill, Ky.; She is also survived by many generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Bruce A. Whitehead. Also preceding her in death were her brother James Murray and her nephew Reggie Murray, both are from Kentucky. Victoria and Bruce were lifelong fans of UK basketball and Georgia football. They enjoyed their days together cooking and raising their beloved dogs. Higher education and service to people is how Victoria spent many years of her life. She graduated from Holmes High School (Covington, Ky.) in 1967. She also graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1971, with a B.A. in psychology. She earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Ball State University. In 1985, Victoria earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Georgia and taught at a university in Mississippi. She worked as a psychologist at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Ga, while also maintaining a private practice in Peachtree City, Ga. Victoria loved laughter and shared it generously even through life’s many difficulties. She shared advice when asked and was an empathetic listener. People were attracted to her vivaciousness and the joy that she felt in life.
