SOUTH BEND, IN Victoria L. P. Kelly Bauer, 85, died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2005 after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease. Mrs.
She also leaves behind her children, Terrence Kelly, Patricia Barrett, and Alice Staffelbach in the South Bend area, Thomas Kelly of Akron, Ohio, and Lawrence, Timothy, Robert, Constance, Kathleen, David, Rosemary, Margaret and Edward of other locations around the country. Mrs. Bauer had 43 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bauer was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and graduated from Jefferson High School. She attended St. Marys College and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1942. That same year, she married Notre Dame graduate John M. Kelly who was serving in the US Navy Air Corps. They lived and raised a family in Akron, Ohio, where Mr.
Mrs. Bauer has one brother, Sydney J. Puddicombe II, who lives in the Houston, Texas area. As a girl, Mrs. Bauer had no girls to play with. She envied the families that had more children. When I get married, Im going to have a house full of kids, she said. She wasnt kidding, and she never regretted it!
After surviving a heart attack and cancer treatment by age 70, she was sad and tired. Then along came Mr. Bauer. His great love put a sparkle in her eyes a big smile back on her face. They married in 1993 and had an active, happy life together until her illness took her from him.
