Agda Delores Victoria Danielson Goodman was born February 1, 1934, in Hitchcock, South Dakota, to Daniel Ephraim and Esther Agnes Victoria Ahlstrom Danielson. She had two older brothers, Raymond and Wendell, and two older sisters, Arlene and Lois. After completing high school in Hitchcock, she attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Victoria taught school for two years in Belle Fourche, SD, and two years in Sheridan, WY where she met Robert Goodman. They married July 19, 1958, then moved to Idaho Falls, ID with their two boys, Robert Jr. and Roger. Victoria lost her beloved Robert Sr. after only 12 years of marriage in 1970. Victoria passed away August 17, 2017, at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Victoria began teaching in Idaho Falls School District #91 when Edgemont Elementary first opened. In 1979, she moved to another newly built school, Westside Elementary. There she received a National Excellence in Education Award in 1988 and the year she retired, 1999, she received the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award, presented to her by Idaho Governor Andrus. As Victoria said, “I love teaching! I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I had chosen another career.” After retirement she continued teaching as a Title I Tutor at Dora Erickson Elementary. No matter where Mrs. Goodman encountered her former students, she always knew their names and recalled some detail about her year with them. In the community, she spent 17 years as a hospital volunteer at Riverview Hospital.
