Victor Roland Barfuss, 92, passed away on May 15, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Boise, Idaho. Vic was born on February 24, 1923, in Paris, Bear Lake County, Idaho, the son of Andrew and Louise (Stocker) Barfuss.
Vic is survived by his wife, Mary Baird Barfuss; and six of his seven children – son, Robert (LeeAnna) Barfuss; daughters, LaDawn Christenson, April (Scott) Monson, and Dree (Todd) Rasmussen; sons, Scott (Diane) Barfuss and David (Deanna) Barfuss; and his daughter-in-law Natalie Barfuss. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, two of Vic’s brothers, Joseph (Sally) Barfuss and Raymond (Ruby) Barfuss, and many nieces and nephews. Vic was predeceased by his son, Brock Barfuss; his son-in-law, Robert Christenson; and his grandson, Ross Barfuss.
Vic graduated from Fielding High School in 1942. He then joined the Marines and served his country during World War II.
After his mission, Vic became an Idaho state policeman. Prior to retiring, he was Superintendent with the rank of Colonel over all the state policemen in the state of Idaho.
Vic married Mary Baird on July 17, 1951, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Any who knew Vic knew that he was a hard-working, self-disciplined, very patriotic man who always did the very best at whatever he worked at. He loved his family, and always gave the credit to his wife, Mary, for raising their children. We are grateful for the life of this good man, and the example he set for everyone within his sphere of influence.
The family would like to thank Colleen and Patti at St. Luke’s Hospice for their tender care of Vic during his time with them.
