Victor Lawrence Summers, son of the late Victor Lawrence Summers, Sr. and Viola Mae Cline Summers, was born April 29, 1928, in St. Joseph, Missouri.  He graduated from Lafayette High School in that city and then served four years in the U.S. Navy.  He received a bachelor of arts degree from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri and a master’s degree from the American University in Washington, D.C.  In 1958, he founded with the late Judge George M. Giammittorio the Ascension Academy in Alexandria, Virginia.  The remainder of his active life was spent in Federal government service and he retired from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2000.
