Vicky A. Slater, 68, of Biron, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018.
She was born on March 11, 1950, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, to Seymour and Esther (Lewis) Slater.
Vicky is a graduate of University of Chicago with a degree in English Language and Literature, University of Michigan, Masters in Library Science, Loyola University, Master of Business Administration.
The University of Chicago is where fun goes to die, but she didn’t let that stop her. She joined the Kazoo Marching Band! She also met her future husband, Carl Wartman.
On Oct. 9, 1983, she married Carl Wartman in Chicago, Illinois.
Vicky was blessed to have a kidney donated to her by her loving husband, which gave her 30 more years with family and friends.
She was an avid reader, and read books for Renaissance Learning for many years.
Vicky loved baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, and live theater. She and Carl were active supporters of American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
She was a talented and passionate quilter with an extraordinary eye for color and design. Many of her creations were gifted to family, friends, and local charities.
Vicky and Carl saw the world together, often from the back of their Harley. They loved to travel, later taking their son Matthew on many trips.
Vicky’s other loves included knitting, crossword puzzles, anime, friends & family.
She was devoted to and deeply proud of her son Matthew.
Vicky is survived by her son, Matthew Wartman; brother, Richard (Kaye) Slater; sister-in-law, Marsha Witten, and sister-in-law, Laurie (Frank) Kundrat, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Vicky was predeceased by her husband, parents and her brother, Charles.
