Vicky Serna
July 15, 1948 – May 4, 2017
Vicky Serna was welcomed into the Lord’s loving embrace on May 4. Vicky had a certain outlook on life that kept her happy even through the tough times. “Whateverrr,” she’d say.
Nothing made Vicky happier than talking to her loved ones, even into the long hours of the night. It was the highlight of her day to speak to one of her boys. She loved a good ol’ fashioned ribbing, but don’t go too far. She might pinch you. Her sense of humor was awesome and her laugh was exuberant.
The truth hurts, but that would not stop Vicky from telling it. It was when she stopped giving you a hard time that you should worry. She had an iron will. Vicky didn’t let anything stop her from raising her sons or enjoying life. When times were hard, she worked two jobs. When she lost her eyesight, she still went out on walks. Nothing was going to stop her.
She loved the show Caso Cerrado. She loved guessing the outcomes of each case. She always started off her day with a little music and prayer. She filled her day with prayer and her faith strong in our Lord.
Vicky had a big heart; she never forgot birthdays, would cook you up a meal and “handprint” tortillas, and would give you her last two pennies if you needed them.
She had five sons; Frank Garza, LtCol Johnny Garza, Gabriel Garza, Felipe Serna, and Jaime Serna. She had eleven grand kids, Frank Garza, Clarissa Garza, Daniel Garza, Brianna Serna, Nathan Serna, Roger Serna, Olivia Serna, Michael Serna, Jaime Serna, Ruben Serna, and Anthony Serna; and her favorite little lamb, Lamby, her lamb of God.
Vicky always wanted her family, especially her boys, to come together. If they were able to see her right now, there is no doubt that they’d catch her smiling and laughing with them.
