Vicky Lynn Covey of Elkhart In, peacefully crossed over into the loving hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her family on June 3, 2021.
Vicky was born in South Bend, where she grew up. She married Mike Covey in 1968 and moved to Kansas, where he was stationed in the US Army. She would have her first child, Steven while living in Kansas. She later moved back to Indiana with her husband and baby and settled in Elkhart Indiana. Two more children later, they finally saved up enough money to buy their first house. She was so happy & so grateful to have a place they could call their own.
She worked in the Research & Development department of KSI in Elkhart during the 80’s. Which she absolutely loved! In 1988, she embarked on the greatest journey yet in her life. She moved to Oark, Arkansas to live on top of a mount in the middle of nowhere. She called her plantation Dreams End! There she was able to sow many crops and foster an astonishing 27 children. She loved each and every one of those children and never forgot their names or birthdays. She was an incredible mother and we were so happy to have the opportunity to share her with those little children who desperately needed her. She also worked at the Oark General Store for Bessie, while living there.
She so loved being there and talking with everyone that came in throughout the day. Having the opportunity to serve the community of Oark in any way she could, just filled her soul. Thus, the many crops, foster children, and her work in town. In 1995, she moved back to Indiana to persue other dreams and to be closer to her parents. So close in fact, she bought the house next door to her parents and lived there until shortly after they crossed over. Mom was no stranger to pain or struggles. In 2011 she became very ill and in March 2012 she lost her leg. We’ve never seen a stronger more determined woman than we did in that year. It seemed as her entire life was falling apart: but she was convinced God was just putting all her scattered pieces together, and sometimes, she said that involves sacrifice. She never questions the Lord or His Will. Within a year, she started to regain her independence and eventually left her house to live in a 55+ community. Where she made so many friends she loved so dearly, and they loved her just as much! She was deeply involved in a worship group there and was always providing for other’s she seen who were in need. No One goes hungry on her watch! As a caregiver, we have never known a better one!
Vicky is survived by her boyfriend Al, Her best friend & soul sister Vicki Bunn, Her sister’s Carol (Ray) Ramsey & Paula (Pat) Pallo. Her children Steven (Teresa) Covey, Scott (Krissy) Covey, Stephanie (Dave) Moore. Mike Covey and her grandchildren Elaine Baker, Brandon (Cheyanne) Baker, Sequiah Covey, Trent Covey, Michael Moore, 6 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Nieces and one nephew. Whom she dearly loved.
