Vickie Sykes, 55, of Vandalia, died peacefully Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Kairos House, Kalamazoo, after a short battle with cancer.
Vickie was born May 29, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois to Eddie Jr., and Georgia (McIntosh) Sykes. Her parents survive.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Derek K. Sykes. Vickie attended First Church of God, Vandalia.
Vickie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Georgia and Leon Yarbrough of Vandalia; her father and stepmother, Eddie and Julie Sykes Jr. of Chicago; her sister, Donnette Sykes of Chicago; her step-sister, Deidra Yarbrough of Chicago; her aunts Stella McIntosh of Vandalia, Gladys Jones of Chicago; many cousins, including Daisy Hervey of Vandalia; and a special friend, Dale Irving of Cassopolis and his family.
