Vicki Gail Elliott Reep, 66, of Statesville, entered her heavenly home on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a five year courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Vicki maintained a positive attitude throughout her illness and was well known for her encouraging and uplifting words.
Born on August 13, 1951, Vicki was the daughter of the late Hoyte Arnold Elliott and Nolena (Holly) Compton. Vicki was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Vicki graduated from South Iredell High School and Cabarrus Hospital School of Nursing. She maintained a lasting relationship with four nurses – Tater, Wally, Nita and Linda, with whom she graduated nursing school. Vicki retired in 2015 after working in the labor and delivery unit at Iredell Memorial Hospital for more than 39 years. She taught childbirth classes, worked as a staff nurse, Head Nurse and an Assistant Director. Vicki loved taking care of moms and dads and helping them as they brought a new baby into their family.
Vicki lived life to the fullest. She lived by the following quote, “Life is not a matter of counting the years, but a matter of making the years count”.
Vicki spent many summers with her family boating and water skiing at Lake Lookout. She also enjoyed snow skiing and many winter trips with friends and family to ski resorts in North Carolina and Virginia.
Vicki was an avid Appalachian State University football fan and enjoyed many weekend trips to Boone to tailgate and enjoy the game with friends and family. Even after her health prevented her from attending the games, her family saved her an honorary seat at the game.
Vicki and Blake had special friends, Ned and Ronnie Fox and Dale and Joyce Byers, with whom they shared many memorable vacations and Friday night dinners. The 6 were originally named the “Clique” by their collective daughters. In recent years, Ham and Becky Smith and Mike and Cynthia Heintz joined their dinners out, and the group then became known as the “Crazy Eights”.
Vicki loved to travel. She enjoyed planning special vacations for her family every year. They travelled extensively throughout the United States. Vicki also enjoyed travelling with her friends and took many trips with the “clique” and her Red Hatter Friends.
Vicki was the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Readers. The only objective for the Red Hatters is to have fun. Vicki was the planner and organizer for the group and planned in great detail enjoyable events and trips for the other Red Hatters in the group. Vicki was an expert in creating fun.
Vicki also enjoyed entertaining in her home. Nothing made her happier than to have friends and family in for special events. Vicki loved to cook meals, and to bake and decorate special cakes for birthdays and holidays.
Vicki was a member of Beulah Baptist Church for 39 years. She and Blake enjoyed their Sunday School class members and the opportunity to worship the Lord with friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 40 years, Blake Alfred Reep, Jr.; daughters, Allison (Mickey) Jordan and Ginger (Philip) Keever; brother, Eddie (Donna) Elliott; and grandchildren, Lily and Lane Jordan and Natalie and Ellie Keever.
