Vicki Lynne McDonald, 71, of New Goshen, passed away December 6, 2019 in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  Vicki was born in Terre Haute on December 28, 1947 to William Ballinger who was killed in action during the Korean War and Josephine Goetz.  Vicki was a homemaker and worked at McDonald Law Office.  She enjoyed working on her family farm in all areas but especially enjoyed operating the farm equipment.  In her earlier years, she loved woodworking in the woodworking shop that her husband Jim built for her.  She was an avid sewer and especially enjoyed making quilts for friends and family.  She was especially proud and fond of the last quilt she made, a Star Wars theme, for her grandson’s fifth birthday.  Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and brother and sisters; Jerry Cross, Patricia Conn and Gretchen McKillop.  She is survived by her husband James O. McDonald, whom she married June 29, 1947.  She is survived by one son, James O. McDonald II and his wife Karen of Terre Haute and a daughter, Heidi Lynne McDonald and her significant other Bobby Smith of West Terre Haute.  She is survived by one brother in-law, Harley E. McDonald and his wife Lu Pita and a sister in-law, Betty Bea Elliott and her husband Gilbert.  She is survived by one grandson, Victor James McDonald, her dog, Sophie, Jim’s dog Willie and several nieces and nephews.  The family is grateful and appreciative of the care and compassion she received from family, friends, medical staff and caregivers prior to her passing.
