Vicente F. Roca, born in Odiongan, Romblon, Phillipines and a resident of Glen Burnie since 1969, died of renal failure on June 18, 2006 at the age of 89. A civil engineer by profession, he was employed by the City of Baltimore, Construction Management Division Project Engineer for the city’s housing projects, roads, bridges and utilities. In 1984, he performed independent environmental, utility and road consulting for Winchester Homes of Millersville, Maryland.
Prior to his experiences in Maryland, Mr. Roca was an accomplished Field and Project Engineer with the international company of Morrison Knudsen, working on various completed projects in Saudi Arabia, Guam, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan and Manila. A fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Mr. Roca was also active in the local Fil-Am community organizations. A confirmed nature lover, he enjoyed gardening, coin collecting and his farms in Davidsonville and Stevensville, Maryland. He is survived by his wife, Carmelita, and his son, Benjamin. Surviving relatives include his brothers, Juanito and Balbino, and his sisters, Leodegaria and Leonila, each with their own respective families.
