Ms. Veronica Sheree “Ronni” Gary, 56, of Dowagiac, MI and formerly of Elkhart, passed away at Lakeland Medical Center in Niles from injuries sustained following being struck by a hit-and-run driver. She was born in Elkhart on February 24, 1964 and was the daughter of Ms. Creola Gary of Elkhart, Indiana.

Ronni is survived by her son, Rodney Bridges, who remains at home; her siblings Michael A. (Shelli) Gary of Dexter, MI, Antoine M. “Tony” (Mary) Gary of Ft. Wayne and Darla K. Hildreth of Elkhart, as well as a host of loving extended family and good friends.

Ronni was a sweet, out-going, out-spoken, endearing, happy-go-lucky person who absolutely loved and lived every single day of her life to the fullest. She celebrated God’s miracles daily and enjoyed passing His love along to others. Joy seemed to naturally exude from Ronni, and those who knew her best tended to gravitate towards her, hoping to catch a bit of her natural good humor. Throughout her life, Ronni had fought several substantial health issues, and despite many setbacks, Ronni’s steadfast Christian faith always led her through the rough areas and into the light.

She was also a champion for others and was always especially attuned to the sufferings of neighbors and friends. She would help in any way she knew how and strived to assure that those closest to her went without wanting. She would say her son, Rodney, was her “piece de resistance” and loved him to the moon and back. Ronni was also a bonafide “anglophile”; which is to say that she absolutely loved the people and culture of Great Britain. She has saved up and visited there a few years back and simply fell in love with the easy-going British way of life.
