Born in Ozone Park, Queens, New York on May 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Emily Harding Battey and Harold William Battey. She married Leonard J. Martini on August 18, 1962 in Westport, CT. A graduate of St. Elizabeth’s College, Utica, NY, she was a registered nurse for 30 years. She was an instructor at Connecticut Business Institute, worked at several nursing homes in Fairfield County throughout her career and was director of Sylvan Manor Nursing Home in Bridgeport before retirement.
