Vernon Steve Kennedy, 73, passed away November 13, 2017 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and was a Gideon. Steve was the coordinator for the “Brotherhood Breakfasts.” Steve was born in Mexia, AL and resided in Gainestown, AL. He served over twenty years in the Army National Guard. He also retired from Boise, formally Allied Paper Company, where he worked as an operator. At one time, Steve was an avid runner, participating in several marathons. In addition to Steve being a loyal, die-hard Alabama fan, he and his wife, Karen, enjoyed sitting on the back porch drinking coffee and watching their precious dog, “Sassy.
