Sidney Vernon “Mutt” Hunter, age 88, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home in Senoia, GA surrounded by his family. He was born May 12, 1929 in Turin to the late Sidney Richard Hunter and Nancy Young Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Sue Gantt Hunter and siblings Joseph Young Hunter, Mary Ellen Spearmen, J.T Hunter and John Hunter.
Mutt was a mainstay in Coweta County and his fingerprints can be found on much of the progress of it. He proudly served Coweta County in several capacities for over 38 years. Mutt began his career with Coweta County as a correctional officer and retired after serving 26 years as the County Administrator. After retirement, he served as a County Commissioner for three terms and was the Commission Chairman several times.
Survivors include daughters, Pam Bedenbaugh and her husband Richard, Cindi Hunter; grandchildren, Sid and his wife Melissa Bedenbaugh, Rick Bedenbaugh; great-grandchildren, Hunter Cannon Bedenbaugh, Sydney Taylor Bedenbaugh, and Anderson Gantt Bedenbaugh; sister, Betty Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews.
