Vernon Doyle Holliman, age 61, of Palestine, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on February 25, 2020. He was born on the 27th day of June, 1958, in Athens, Texas, to Henry Teller Holliman and Ada Bell Holliman.
Vernon was a family man who loved children and would do anything to help someone in need. He was a member of Broyles Chapel Baptist Church and strong in his Christian faith. He worked for TDCJ as a correctional officer. Vernon was very active in the community. He was involved in West Side Volunteer Fire Department and was the founder of Anderson County Buyers Group. Vernon enjoyed hunting and collecting guns and cast iron. He will be greatly missed by many in the community.
Vernon is preceded in death by his father Henry Holliman; mother, Ada Bell Holliman Loper; grandmother, Betty Carroll; and brothers, Louis Holliman and Bill Holliman.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Holliman; sons, Brandon Holliman, Dustin Holliman and wife Kacie, all of Palestine; stepchildren, Tracy Wilson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Will Brakefield and wife Halie of Mount Ida, Arkansas, Leah Brakefield of Tyler, Texas; sister, Joyce Douglas; grandchildren, Jestan Paul Hucklebridge, Ezekiel Graham, Brandon “Treston” Holliman, Laurel Wilson, Natalee Brakefield, Mason Holliman, Emilee Brakefield, Avery Holliman, Vernon “Gage” Holliman, Makenzee Brakefield. Vernon is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and several friends he considered to be family.
