Vernon Lawrence Delp was born on September 28, 1927 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska to Fred and Zetta (Halsey) Delp. He grew up in the Meadow Grove area and attended country school west of Norfolk. Vernon worked on his father’s farm and then entered the U.S. Army in 1944. Following his tour of service, he married Rozella Bishop on July 31, 1948 in Yankton, South Dakota. Vernon was employed for many years with Schlieters Implement and Arkfeld Manufacturing, before becoming co-owner of Hoskins Manufacturing. He worked for Apache Manufacturing before going into business by himself at Phoenix Manufacturing in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Vernon retired in 2000. After retiring, he did remodeling of local homes.

Vernon’s son and grandson played in country music bands, and he never missed being able to go to every show and enjoyed dancing with his wife. He was amazing in his creative talents. If he had an idea, he could build it.
