SMITH, Vernon D. “Vern” of Portage. Passed away April 3, 2012. Vern was born August 20, 1958 in Kalamazoo to Dewey and Ruby Lee Lang Smith.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Reynolds on June 20, 1985, who survives. Vern was known as the best Harley mechanic in Kalamazoo. Also surviving Vern are his children, Jill Lee Threet Smith of West, MS, Justin Melissa Smith of Loveland, CO, Michael April Smith of Lyon, France and Carrie and Lee Blades of Portage; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Vern in death were his parents.
