Verniece Helen Russell, 79, of Lakeside, Michigan, died Monday morning, October 12, 2009 at Jordans Life Care Center, Bridgman, with her family by her side. Verniece was born August 5, 1930 in Lakeside to Ralph and Agatha Bella (DeMorrow) Brown. On January 8, 1949 she married William Russell Sr. in Michigan City, Indiana. Verniece worked for over twenty years at Gerwin Industries in Michigan City and was a member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer.
Fall was the favorite time of year for Verniece, as she loved to go on “color” tours from lower Michigan to upper Michigan and around the lake.Verniece is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Sr.; son William Russell Jr. (Fay) of Sawyer; daughters Victoria Williams of Three Oaks, Shirley (Larry) Hamilton of Michigan City, and Christine Dale of Midland; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sisters, Vernetia Kurina,VaLaura Becvar, and Claudia Owstrowski.
Verniece was preceded in death by her siblings, Viola, Vera, Vivian, Valma, Verella, Victoria, Victor, Vincent, Vernon, Van, and Virgil; and her son in law Mark Williams.
