The Life of Vernetta Craig Kingsberry
On January 6, 1945 Vernetta Ree Craig was born to the late Virginia Craig Jordan and Johnny White in Lancaster South Carolina. Virginia was the mother of four children and Johnny was the father of four children. Vernetta peacefully transitioned from her earthly body to her heavenly home at her residence on Monday, July 30, 2018.
Vernetta received her formal education from the Public School System in North Carolina. She relocated to the Washington, DC area for career advancement.
Vernetta united in Holy Matrimony to Edward Kingsberry on July 31, 1970 and they have been inseparable for the past forty-eight years. To this union, two wonderful children were raised in a loving and caring home; one son Myron Eugene Kingsberry and one daughter Katrice Kingsberry Johnson.
Vernetta was a loving, and caring woman, who never met a stranger. She loved to talk, and had a keen, unique since of humor. She often had a joke to tell you – or somehow could make the joke to be about you.
Vernetta was a hardworking, and dedicated employee with the American Rescue Workers from 1983 until she retired in 2016. Vernetta worked tirelessly and rarely missed a day of work. She met many people over the years, some of whom became very dear friends. Vernetta was a member of the American Rescue Workers Worship Center in Capitol Heights, Maryland, under the leadership of Major Martin. Vernetta was truly grateful for the Martins and much thanks from the family for also being a part of her family.
Vernetta will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She leaves many fond memories for her loved ones to cherish. Vernetta is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Kingsberry; one son Myron Kingsberry, (Giovana); one daughter, Katrice Kingsberry-Johnson (Derrick); grandchildren DeShaun Edward Brown, Chad Devin Owens, Kiion Brandon Johnson, Curtis Lamonte Warner, Cameron LaSharde Warner, Janay Kingsberry-Whitaker and Jamael Lamar Kingsberry; great-grandchildren Clarke LaMyron Clake; and Kaiden Devon Owens, and several bonus daughters: Monica Atkins and Shakenya Cooper; two bonus sisters Geraldine Wallace and Wendy Gross, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
