Verneal Garrison, 86, of rural Ottawa, died Thursday morning, Dec. 2, at the Ottawa Pavilion. Mr. Garrison was born on September 7, 1924 in Monticello, Illinois to Elmer and Aulta (Kiest) Garrison.
He was employed as the shop foreman at Ottawa Ford, then at Pitstick Dairy, retiring in 1988. He married Elizabeth Betty Nickle on June 1, 1945, at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Suzanne (Doug) Carroll, of Powersite, Missouri, one son, Gary Wayne (Gail) Garrison, of Covington, Georgia, a granddaughter Amy Williams, a great-granddaughter Laney Williams; 7 sisters: Ruth Clippinger, of Oakwood, Illinois, Zella Garrison, of Marseilles, Marcia (Kent) Crouch, of Ottawa, Carole (Larry) Cain, of Ottawa, Judy (Bob) McLennan, of rural Marseilles, Nancy (Junior) Price, of Broughton, Illinois, and Cheri (Dave) Wujek, of Galesburg, 2 brothers, Elmer (Marolyn) Garrison, Jr., of Streator, and Russell (Delores) Garrison, of Barstow, California. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn June Barth, and two brothers, Merle and Robert Garrison.
