Vernan Maxine ( Patricia ) Koechig 92, of Ashton passed away at her home May 4, 2015. She was born on May 5, 1922 in Weston, IL. ( now Wheaton, IL ) She served her country with the US Army as a WAC with the rank of PFC, she was assigned as an Entertainment Specialist.
She was sent overseas, she received 2 medals, the medal of Victory, Good Conduct and Army Occupation Medal Germany. She also received European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and 2 overseas bars. She married Robert Koechig on November 13, 1947 in Ashton.
He preceded her in death July 16, 2003. She is survived by her Niece Barbara ( Howard ) May of Dixon and nephew Larry Koechig of Dixon and her special friend Lois Erickson.
