Verna Lee Williams, 71, a resident of the Bigbee community, was born Feb. 2, 1949 to Major and Ever Lee Williams. She departed this life on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020. 

Verna was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Frankville, where she remained faithful until her health failed.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Juanita Philon; brothers, Theodore Williams and James Williams; and grandson, Marquez Harmon.

Left to cherish her loving memories are three daughters, Angela Harmon, Tracy (Marcus) Watson and Regina (Jeremy) Foster; six sons, Frederick (Toya) Williams, James Harmon, Mark (Evette) Harmon, DeKelly Harmon, Steven Williams and Travis Williams. Following the death of her sister, she raised her sister’s four children as her own, Janice Philon, Charles Philon, MaTonya Philon and Eugene Smith; 27 grandchildren, one devoted, Jewell Chapman, and three special grandsons, Cedric Chapman, Giani Black and Kenderrius Thomas; 13 great-grandchildren, with a special great-granddaughter, Zylonna Holcombe; like a daughter and sons, Carolyn Boykin, O.J. Johnson, James Thomas, Dale Boykin and Tim Young; special friend, L.J. Boykin; special cousins, Betty Echols and Lodis C. Johnson; special friends, Patsy and Joe Goldman, Barbara Koen, Kitty Grimes, Shirley Baker and Harrietta Evans; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
