Verna Lanell Thompson, age 74, longtime resident of Okaloosa County passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2015, in Pensacola. She was born January 6, 1941 to the late Vernon L. and Mildred Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellic Thompson and brothers, Ronald and William Cook. Lanell is survived by her sons, Dwight Cook, Mike Thompson, Dwayne Thompson, Arthur Thompson and Alex Thompson; her daughters, Loretta Sowell, Nancy Thompson and Kay Johnson; brothers, Dwyane Cook, Jimmy Cook and Tommy Cook; her sister, Larica Redmond; 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
