Verna L. Herron
Newark – Verna L. Herron, 86 entered eternity on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the DeMay Living Center.
Family and friends may call Tuesday (April 16) from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Norman L.
Verna was born the daughter of the late Benjamin and Pearl (Smith) Lester on Friday, November 26, 1926 in LeRoy, NY. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark and the CSEA. For many years she was a Girl Scout Leader and also a Den Leader. She started her career at the House of The Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown and retired in 1988 after more than 30 years at the Newark Developmental Center.
She will be remembered by her daughter Wanda (Calvin) Taft of Rose; grandchildren Coleen, Scott and Shasta; daughter Waiva Freeman of Newark; grandchildren Shayna, Beth, Todd and Julie; son Wayne (Nancy)Herron of Albany; grandchildren Jake, Becca and Drew; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Verna was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Carl H. Herron on April 4, 2008; two sisters and four brothers.
Internment: East Newark Cemetery
