Mr. Lafleur died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Creighton Medical Center, Omaha.

Vern P. Lafleur was born March 6, 1954 at Norfolk. He was the son of Guillaume and Cecelia (Marx) Lafleur. Vern grew up in Madison where he attended high school and played football, basketball and participated in track. After attending Northeast Community College for two years he transferred to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he graduated with a bachelor of science in agriculture in May of 1976. From the time he was old enough to push a broom he helped his dad out at the family business even coming home from college whenever he could to work there. For a few years Vern worked in soil conservation for the state of Nebraska. He soon returned to Madison for good to take over the family business with his brother.

Vern married Cindy Wemhoff at St. Leonard Catholic Church on October 15, 1988. The couple had two daughters, Vanessa and Marie.

Vern is survived by his wife Cindy, two daughters, Vanessa and Marie, his four sisters and one brother, Marice Boschult, of Norfolk, Jeanne (Hilary) Howard, of Omaha, Lance (Jane) Lafleur, of Madison, Jill (Jerry) Catlett, of Bruning and Lee (Duane) Childs, of Omaha, mother in-law Laura Wemhoff of Columbus, and brother and sister in-laws; Dave (Geri) Wemhoff, of Creston, Gary (Mindy) Wemhoff of Columbus, Jon (Deana) Wemhoff, of Columbus, Philip (Brenda) Wemhoff of Peru, and Peter (Linnea) Wemhoff of Red Oak, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father in-law Victor Wemhoff, and one brother in-law Ron Boschult.
