Verlin Albert Rolf, 81, of Bluffs, IL passed away at 6:40 AM, Monday, October 12, 2009 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. He was born June 18, 1928 in Scott County, IL near Bluffs to Albert and Gunda Placke Rolf. He married Dolores Williamson on April 3, 1948 at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage near Bluffs and she survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Vicki Prunty of Chatham, Mary Evans (husband, Richard) of South Jacksonville, and Sandra Shireman (husband, Brad) of Bluffs; six grandchildren, Cheri Hoots of Chatham, Jody Shireman of South Jacksonville, Richard Evans Jr. (wife, Jennifer) of South Jacksonville, Christopher Prunty of Chatham, Megan Evans of South Jacksonville, and Corey Prunty of Chatham; four great grandchildren, Rylee and Laikyn McGuire of Chatham and Brenden and Madaline Evans of South Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Essie Hyatt of Walnut Creek, CA and June Merris of Jacksonville; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Henard of Boulder, CO and Don Henard of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon Rolf; and two sisters, Louise Ehlert and Laverne Shull (surviving husband, J.D. Shull of Quincy).

Mr. Rolf served with the US Navy during WWII and farmed for many years in Exeter, IL. He retired from Scott Farm Services as a petroleum salesman after 25 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Bluffs, IL. He formerly served on the Exeter Town Board and the Exeter/Merritt Water Coop. Verlin was also a member of the Bluffs American Legion and the Western Illinois Tractor Club. Verlinâ??s favorite pastime was collecting toy tractors, restoring old tractors, and spending time laughing and making memories with his family and friends.
