Verlene Douglas was the daughter of the late Fred and Josie Douglas. She
was born in Swan lake Arkansas on March 24, 1947 she attended Martin
High School in Altheimer, Arkansas where she graduated in 1965. She
enrolled in the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in 1965.
Soon after leaving Arkansas she relocated to St. Louis, MO, she
then moved to Detroit, MI where she settled down and started her family
with Robert. She had three children La Sonya, Ramona and Frederick.
She is proceeded in death by her treasured sisters, Dorfeen Wilburn and
Cloute Taylor.
Verlene was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday January 28th,
2021.
She leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life Bernard Shaw, two
daughters, La Sonya Douglas –Clay of San Antonio, TX; Ramona Douglas
of Detroit, MI; and one son Frederick Douglas (Voncille) of Indianapolis, IN
Two sisters, Robbie Jean Gatewood and Essie Williams-Hence (Jesse) of
Detroit, MI; six grandchildren Kashes, Tyrone, Jasmine, Kimani; eleven
great grandchildren, Braylon, Logan, Naima, Mari’a, Christian, Alaya,
Morgan, Addison, Sebastion and Kobe and special cousin Darlene Douglas
Williams from Dallas, TX and a host of nieces and nephews, family
members and friends. Verlene will be missed by all who loved her.
