Verdale Davis was the second born of twelve children to Dale Locklayer Davis and Queen Ester Foster Davis on September 15, 1940 in Hillsboro.  She departed this life on January 28, 2012 in Detroit, MI. From the beginning, her life was shaped and enriched by experiences provided by Christian parents.  Ms. Davis confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age, at David Temple Primitive Baptist Church.

She graduated from Tennessee Valley High School and immediately entered Alabama A & M University, in Huntsville where she majored in Home Economics.  In the mid 1960s, she moved to Brooklyn, New York and while there, she gained many lifelong friends.  While in New York, she was blessed with two sets of twins:  Kevin and Karen, Anthony and Angelique.

Later the family moved to Michigan, where her former education launched her into the passion of baking and catering.  With her spiritual gifts she became known for her wonderful meals which included cakes, pies, and homemade rolls.

Verdale’s love for children extended far beyond her own four.  Her love and care overflowed into the lives of many children who she enjoyed loving and nurturing.

Reverend Calvin Hood.  She eventually joined Third New Hope Church with The Reverend E. L. Branch, Senior Pastor where she continued until her death.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  her sons, Kevin, Detroit, Michigan and Anthony {Kory}, Southfield, Michigan; her daughters, Karen {Korey}, Detroit, Michigan and Angelique {Paul}, Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Shelby, Michael, Malcolm, Daniel, Brian, Toni and Charles; three loving sisters, Lucinda, Laura, and Matilda; six brothers, Dale Jr., George {Mildred}, Edward {Rhonda}, Ricky {Queen Ann}, Danny {Marie}, and Michael; one god-brother, James Bowman {Mary Sue}; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
