Vera L. Risk Hester, 96, Anderson, died October 7, 2007, at Countryside Manor, Anderson.
She was born June 15, 1911, in Windfall, Indiana, the eldest of five children, to Harvey and Gertie Risk. She was a lifelong Madison County resident. Vera was employed at the Delco Remy Division of General Motors. She was a homemaker and also worked in various retail jobs throughout her life. She was involved in Anderson Business Women, 4-H, and was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church. She later joined Whetstone Christian Church and was a member there until her death. She enjoyed bowling and gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother Vera’s belief in God was always foremost in her everyday life. She was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She will be missed but never forgotten.
She is survived by her two sons, Steve Karen Hester and Curtis Karla Hester both of Shell Knob, Missouri; grandsons, Tim Hester, Todd Jennifer Hester, Brad Penny Hester, Scott Carie Carr, Mike Tracy Pahls, Eric Pahls, and Geoffrey Pahls; granddaughters, LeAnne Hester, Cindy Mike Boyd, and Jenny Marty Jank; sister, Madge Baker; two sisters-in-law, Pat Risk and Mary Hester; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband whom she married on July 15, 1935, Owen R. Hester who passed away on November 28, 1971; parents, Harvey and Gertie Gordon Risk; two sisters, Fern Mitchell and Evelyn Mitchell; and a brother, Lewis Risk.
