Vera Geigel, age 91, of Kansas City and formerly of Iowa City, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri. Vera June Geigel, the daughter of Jesse and Mary (Pitlick) Lackender, was born on June 28, 1927 in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from University High School in 1945 and then attended the University of Iowa. On August 21, 1947 Vera was united in marriage with Robert Frederick Geigel in Iowa City, Iowa. Vera enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, watching sports on TV, and cooking, especially Thanksgiving dinner when the entire family traveled to their home in Kansas City. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority (University of Iowa), Bridge Club and Bowling League. Left to cherish Vera’s memory are three daughters, Susan Anne (Roger) Kohl of Macon, MO, Micheola Lynne Geigel of Peachtree City, GA and Charlotta Louise (Norman) Dunkin of Peachtree City, GA; five grandchildren, Sarah (Monty) Moore, Edward (Alexandra) Kohl, Emily (Bob) Blakey, Sadie (David) Swanagan and Reed (Kristy) Dunkin; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Jesse Lackender; husband, Robert Geigel and sister, Velma Narron.
