Vera Cherril Bagley Draney
1930 – 2016

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend returned home to our Father in Heaven on January 24, 2016, surrounded by the people she loved. Mom was a true “elect lady”. She never said anything bad or mean, she was always so sweet and patient. She served everyone and worked so hard to make people feel comfortable and welcome. She made us all feel we were loved. She was a wonderful example for anyone to follow. She has now joined her sweetheart of 67 years. Together, they are watching over those who are most dear to them, their family.

Cherril was born in Fairview, Wyoming, to Vera C. and Parley Bagley. She enjoyed growing up on a small farm with her five older siblings. She graduated from Star Valley High School where she enjoyed being a member of the Pep Club, Choir, Band and Orchestra. She met her sweetheart, Evern in high school who had just returned after serving in WWII. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1948. Their marriage was performed by Joseph Fielding Smith.

They lived in Tygee and Pocatello, Idaho until Evern was drafted during the Korean War. She then moved to Ogden, Utah, to live with family members. She worked at Meadow Gold Dairy as a receptionist and switch board operator. When Evern returned two years later, they chose to make Ogden their home. She was active in the PTA and worked in local elections for many years. Later, she worked at the IRS for 9 years receiving multiple awards and was recognized for her accomplishments.

Their greatest blessings in life were their five children who were all adopted. Cherril loved her family deeply. Her whole life revolved around her family and the LDS Church. She loved and served diligently throughout her life in leadership callings at both the ward and stake level. Her extensive knowledge of the scriptures, a strong testimony, great spirituality and teaching skills, combined to make her a wonderful gospel teacher.
