Venita Eileen (Jones) Crook, “Gammy” of Clovis passed away in her home on Saturday February 11, 2023. She was born to Travis Alton Jones and Willie Mae (Cardin) Jones on December 3, 1936 in Portales NM. She married the love of her life Donald Bruce Crook on April 4, 1954.
Venita lived a fulfilling life as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She had many friends through the Clovis Municipal Schools where she worked until her retirement. She knew every employee, teacher, and administrator in the system. She had many friends through the school system and was an active member of Central Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Venita loved to work with her hands and loved needlework of all kinds as well as painting. She made many beautiful quilts all with love sewn in by hand.
Venita is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Bruce Crook and great-grand-daughter AnnaKay Denice Justice as well as her parents. She is survived by son Rex and wife Marsha Crook of Aztec, NM; daughter Donna and husband Bill Smith of Clovis, NM; and son Max and wife Susan of Ada, OK. Gammy is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-great grandchildren.
