Venesia Kay Jones was born on August 20, 1965 to her parents, Halberta H. Jones née Napue and Merle C. Jones, in Hill City, Kansas. Venesia was born on the same day as her twin brother, Vincent at Graham County Hospital, they were the youngest of their parents offspring. She was raised alongside her older siblings, Merle, Leonard, Linda, Patricia, and Teresa. Linda, who was the oldest sibling named Venesia and Vincent, she was 16 at that time. Due to the large age gap between Venesia and her older siblings, they found it surprising that their parents had additional children. They would often joke, saying “What are we going to do with these babies?”. However, the entire family adjusted, and things worked out very well.
Venesia and her siblings were raised in a farm between Bogue and Hill City, Kansas.
Venesia was educated through the Grand County School District and attended Hill City High School. Unfortunately during this time in high school, her mother passed away. Venesia overcame the loss of her mother, and became very involved in school activities, including cheerleading. She later graduated in 1983.
Looking for new life opportunities, Venesia moved to Denver, Colorado. Her first job was with a real estate company as Secretary. However, this was not the right fit for her personality. She was a people’s person who loved action, therefore, she found her niche as a server and waitress. She worked at the Pepsi Center for many years, along with a couple of clubs including, the Moonlight Diner where she stayed until her passing.
Those who knew Venesia describe her as dependable and hard working. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who loved to hangout at the Urban. She made many friends and enjoyed social functions. Venesia loved traveling with her good friends Teresa, Bert and their family, going to the Winter Park Jazz Festival, Black Hawk and opening day for the Rockies, she anticipated this every year. More importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to Thanksgiving and Birthday Parties, where she could spoil her great nieces and nephews. Venesia’s vibrant personality and welcoming spirit will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Venesia transitioned into eternal rest on June 8, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Halberta H. Jones née Napue and Merle Jones.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Linda Jones-Harrington (Aaron), Patricia Jones and Teresa Quick; brothers, Merle H. Jones (Barbara), Leonard Jones (Pam) and her twin brother, Vincent R. Jones; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
