Vena Rosalie Campbell, 89, of Jacksonville, IL, died Monday, September 14, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Jacksonville, the daughter of George Lloyd and Stella Florence Baptist Mansfield. She married Leo Glenn Campbell on June 7, 1942, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Joette â??Jodiâ? (husband, James) Welch of Jacksonville and Deborah â??Debbieâ? Campbell-Smith of Riverton; one son, Monte (wife, Carol) Campbell of Clinton; four grandchildren, Debbie Wild, Anthony Campbell, Matt S. Smith and Jessica Smith; two great-granddaughters, Porsche Williams and Ciara Campbell; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jamisyn Wood. She was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Alan at birth; six sisters, Myra Maedge, Thelma DePeano, Fern Lowe, Myrna Ray, Elly Weaver and Gwen Pitts; and three brothers, Glenn Sterling (in infancy), Maurice and George Mansfield.
Mrs. Campbell was a 1938 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She had worked as a telephone operator, food product demonstrator, and also as a Tupperware and Home Interiors Consultant.
