Velvet Ann Harris was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on November 7, 1961 to Bernice Billings Harris and the late Willie Mack Harris. She departed this life at her residence with a smile on August 14, 2013.
Velvet confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Mack Harris; four sisters, Mandalla, Sylvia, Mary and Cinderella Harris; and one brother, Willie Harris.
She leaves a legacy of love and memory to: her mother, Mrs. Bernice Billings Harris; three daughters, Olita Sharay Harris and Tricia Jones both of Decatur and Bernisha Harris of Courtland; one son, Quinton (Kristy) Harris of Decatur; two sisters, Helean Jones of Courtland and Anglia (Keith) Cater of Lawton, Oklahoma; three brothers, Bruce Jones and Gerald (Cassandera) Swoopes both of Decatur and Eddie (Gloria) Harris of Courtland; one uncle, Samuel Billings of Courtland; two aunts, Geraldine Billings of Knoxville, Tennessee and Lequata Billings of Courtland; one great aunt, Jessie Lee Vinson of Courtland; special loves ones that were like sisters, Patrina, Christine, Vanessa, Katy and Nichole; god children, Acacia, Jasmine and Landus and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend.
