Velta Pupedis, 91, of Cromwell, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 29, 2017. A kind and gentle woman passed away today. She was our mother. Those that knew her loved her. She was a caring and loving person, soft spoken, unassuming, always putting others before herself. She was the sweetest and kindness mother and grandmother, teaching her family about loving nature and what family means. A woman who survived World War II , leaving her bombed out village in Priekule, Latvia, enduring Displaced Persons Camps in Germany before coming to America in 1952. She set examples of good work ethics and respect for others while working hard and raising her family. Truly a remarkable mother, she was from the greatest generation and deservingly so. She leaves behind her 5 children: sons Raymond Pupedis and wife Marti of Willimantic CT, Ivars (Kixxie) Pupedis of Middletown CT, Imants (Louie) and wife Diane of Cromwell CT, and her daughters Anita (Suzie) Pupedis Varricchio of Portland CT, and Kitty Edith Pupedis of Lula Georgia. She is also survived by her granddaughter Amy Wade and husband Jason and great grandchild Liam of Minneola, Florida and grandson Emmett Varricchio of Portland CT. She was predeceased by her husband Albins Pupedis and relatives from Latvia.
