M. Weikel, 89, of Sellersville, previously of Quakertown died Monday, June 15th in Grand View Hospital. She was the wife of the late H. Stanley Weikel. Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Mabel (Miller) Maugle. She owned and operated a beauty shop and later was a cafeteria worker in the Quakertown Community School District for 14 years before retiring. Velma devoted her life to her family, church, and community. She was a member of First United Church of Christ where she served as President of the Women’s Guild and of the Friendship Circle Class. She also sang on the choir and taught Sunday school. Formerly a member of Tohickon U.C.C., she was active in the Women’s Guild, sang on the choir and taught Sunday school. She was also involved in the community as a volunteer at the former Quakertown Community Hospital and St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital with 20 years of service. Additionally, Velma was a member of the AARP and received the 1995 Outstanding Service to the Community Award. Surviving: Son, Terence “Terry” Weikel and wife Karen, Sellersville; daughters, Barbara Stoneback and husband James, Quakertown; Deborah Bargione and husband Philip, Sellersville; son-in-law Kenneth Hoffman, Quakertown; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” Hoffman.
