Velma Marie Van Der Kamp, 88, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at The Bluff’s in Columbia. She was born December 24, 1919 in Sully, Iowa the daughter of the late Rennier and Sarah (Vander Leest) Dieleman. Velma married Milo Vann Der Kamp on July 29, 1939; he preceded her in death on May 12, 2006.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Linda Huyser of Auxvasse, Missouri, Carolyn Van Der Wilt of Vacaville, California, Phyllis Rinehart of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Patricia Storey of The Villages, Florida, and Douglas Van Der Kamp of San Benito, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Dieleman of the state of Florida and Marvin Dieleman of Grinnell, Iowa; two sisters, Jeanette Van Der Kamp of Pella, Iowa and Erma Ver Ploeg of West Bloomfield, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. Her parents, husband, sister Margaret, brothers, Harold and Cliff, and sister Helen preceded her in death.
Velma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends who will forever cherish their memories of her. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, crafts, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
