Those left to honor Velma’s memory are her son, Keith (and Heidi) Van Baalen of Sandy, Oregon; daughter, Beverly (and Tim) Spain of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Eloise Van Baalen of Knoxville, Iowa; her 4 grandchildren, T.J. Spain, Megan Spain, Chelsea Van Baalen, and Jacob Van Baalen; 3 sisters, Myrtle (and Craig) Smith of Memphis, MO, Lerea (and Larry) Bloomfield of Memphis, MO, and Linda (and Phil) Hicks of Danville, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Arlene Van Baale of Newton; brother-in-law, Milo (and LaVerne) Van Baalen of Grovetown, GA; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Edith (Rorabaugh) Woods; husband, Russell in 1990; her son, Terry; and a brother, Vern Woods.
Velma graduated from Memphis High School in Memphis, MO in 1945. She worked as a homemaker and silk screen operator at the Vernon Compny in Newton, Iowa for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Velma was a member of the Local U.A.W.
